Definition
扩建 (kuò jiàn) means to expand a physical structure — a building, road, or facility — by adding to it. It is more concrete than 扩大 (kuò dà, to enlarge scope/scale) and 扩展 (kuò zhǎn, to extend range/influence), and unlike 扩张 (kuò zhāng, often for territory or medical dilation), it always refers to construction.
