执业 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to practice a profession', especially a licensed one like doctor, lawyer, or accountant. The two syllables 执 and 业 can split when adding aspect, duration, or measure words — for example, 执了十年的业 ('practiced for ten years'). It is NOT used for running a general business (use 经营 instead), and the dictionary senses 'property; estate' are incorrect for this word.
