Definition
扣除 (kòu chú) is the standard, formal verb for 'to deduct' in financial or score contexts. It is more specific and unambiguous than 扣 (kòu), which can also mean 'to fasten' or 'to detain'. 刨 (páo) is a colloquial synonym for 'deduct' but is much less common.
