Definition
打岔 (dǎ chà) means to interrupt a conversation, often by changing the subject. Unlike 打断 (dǎ duàn), which focuses on cutting off someone's speech, 打岔 implies diverting the topic. It is a separable verb (离合词), so you can say 打了一个岔.
