Definition
成堆 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to pile up' or 'form a heap', used both literally for objects (e.g., waste, books) and figuratively for problems or tasks. The verb 成 and the object 堆 can split when inserting aspect particles or modifiers: 成了一堆, 成过堆. You cannot place a direct object after 成堆 directly; use 把 or a prepositional phrase to indicate what is piling up.
