慨 is a bound form (b.f.) that only appears in compound words, not as a standalone word. It conveys a strong emotional reaction — indignation, generosity, or a deep sigh of emotion. You'll encounter it in words like 慷慨 (generous, fervent), 感慨 (sigh with emotion, reflect deeply), and 愤慨 (indignant, outraged).
