Definition
慌张 (huāngzhāng) is the most general HSK7 adjective for 'flustered, agitated' — it describes a loss of calm without implying a specific type of panic. In contrast, 慌 is simpler and also an intensifier; 恐慌 adds fear, 惊慌 alarm, 慌乱 disorder, 心慌 inner anxiety, and 慌忙 haste. Use 慌张 for a neutral 'flustered'.
