Definition
情商 is an abbreviation for 情绪商数 (emotional intelligence quotient, EQ), a modern loanword from English. It refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own emotions and those of others. In Taiwan, 情商 can also be used as a verb meaning 'to ask a special favor', but this usage is rare and informal. As a noun, it is commonly paired with 高 (high) or 低 (low) to describe someone's emotional intelligence level.
