Definition
得体 (dé tǐ) describes speech, behavior, or dress that is appropriate to the social occasion, implying proper etiquette and good manners. It is stronger in social propriety than 合适 (general suitability) or 恰当 (fitting for an action/decision), and differs from 贴切, which applies only to words or descriptions being apt. 得当 also means 'appropriate' but focuses on proper handling of matters, not personal conduct.
