Definition
强迫 (qiǎng pò) is the standard, neutral verb for 'to force/compel' someone to do something. It is less colloquial than 逼 (bī), which implies personal pressure, and less formal/institutional than 强制 (qiáng zhì), which is used for mandatory rules. Its passive counterpart is 被迫 (bèi pò) 'to be forced'.
