Definition
开班 means 'to start or offer a class/course', typically used for training programs, workshops, or school terms. It's a separable verb (离合词): the verb 开 and the noun 班 can split when you insert a measure word, duration, or other modifier between them — for example, 开了三个班 ('started three classes'), 开过两次班 ('offered the course twice'). The object (what kind of class) usually goes after 班: 开班教中文 ('offer a class to teach Chinese').
