Definition
庶 is a bound morpheme (b.f.) used in formal or classical Chinese compounds. It has two main senses: (1) 'numerous, multitudinous' in words like 庶民 (common people) and 庶务 (general affairs); (2) 'of a concubine' in terms like 庶出 (born of a concubine) and 庶子 (son of a concubine). It never stands alone as an independent word.
