Definition
应邀 means 'to accept an invitation' or 'to attend at someone's invitation' — it focuses on the act of responding to an invitation, not the act of inviting. Unlike 邀请 (to invite), which is what the host does, 应邀 is what the guest does. It is more formal than 邀 (a shorter, less common verb) and is not interchangeable with 特邀, which means 'to specially invite' (the host's action, often for a distinguished guest).
