应声是一个书面语副词，意为“随着声音立即……”（即动作与声音几乎同时发生）。常与动词搭配构成固定结构，如“应声倒地”“应声而落”。使用时直接放在动词前面，表示一听到声音就做出反应。英文的“at the sound of”或“echo”只能部分覆盖其用法，实际使用中需放在动词前。
