Definition
幻觉 (huàn jué) refers to a false sensory perception — seeing, hearing, or feeling something that isn't really there (e.g., a hallucination from illness, or an optical illusion). It emphasizes the sensory experience, unlike 错觉 (cuò jué), which is a mistaken perception or misconception that can be psychological, or 幻影 (huàn yǐng), a phantom or mirage visible but intangible.
