Definition
并 (bìng) has two common uses. As a conjunction it means 'and, moreover', connecting verbs or clauses in a slightly formal way – less casual than 和 (hé, for nouns) but not as formal as 与 (yǔ). As an adverb before a negative (e.g., 并不), it emphasizes 'not at all' or 'really not', unlike 都 (dōu) which can mean 'all' or 'even'.
