并非如此 is a fixed expression meaning 'this is not the case' or 'it is not so'. It is used to negate a previous statement or assumption, often in formal or written contexts. The phrase is composed of 并 (bìng, used for emphasis before a negative), 非 (fēi, 'not'), 如此 (rú cǐ, 'like this'). Unlike 不是这样, 并非如此 carries a stronger, more emphatic tone of denial.
