Definition
并列 (bìng liè) has two main uses: in competitions it means 'to tie for a rank/score', and in writing or layout it means 'to stand side by side or be juxtaposed for comparison'. This differs from 并肩 (shoulder to shoulder, implying joint effort) and 平行 (parallel lines or concurrent processes, without the sense of being placed together).
