Definition
干预 (gān yù) means to intervene or get involved, and can be neutral/positive (e.g., government intervention) or negative (meddling). It is more formal than 插手/伸手 (colloquial, 'stick one's nose in') and less negative than 干涉 (gān shè), which almost always implies unwelcome interference. 介入 (jiè rù) is similar but focuses on stepping into a conflict or situation.
