幕后 (mù hòu) means 'behind the scenes' as a neutral term, often used attributively with 的. Unlike 背后 (bèi hòu), which can mean a physical location or sneaky actions, 幕后 focuses on the unseen operations. It differs from 后台 (hòu tái, backstage or supporter) and 内幕 (nèi mù, inside story/scandal).
