布施 is a Buddhist term meaning 'to give alms' or 'to make a donation', especially to monks, nuns, or temples as a practice of generosity and merit-making. In everyday Chinese, it can be used more broadly for charitable giving. The verb is transitive and often takes a recipient after 给 (gěi).
