Definition
己所不欲 is the first half of the Confucian proverb 己所不欲,勿施于人 (jǐ suǒ bú yù, wù shī yú rén), which means 'Do not do to others what you would not want done to yourself.' It's a classical Chinese set phrase used to invoke the Golden Rule — you'll encounter it in formal writing, speeches, and philosophical discussion. The full proverb is often quoted as a single unit.
