Definition
山谷 (shān gǔ) is the general word for a valley between mountains or hills. 峡谷 (xiá gǔ) is a narrower, steeper canyon, often with cliffs; 沟 (gōu) is a smaller gully or ditch, often man-made or eroded. 低谷 (dī gǔ) is figurative (a low point), not a physical valley.
