Definition
尊容 literally means 'honorable appearance' and was historically a polite way to refer to someone's face or countenance, used in formal or courtly settings. In modern colloquial Chinese, however, it is most often used sarcastically or ironically to describe someone's ugly or unappealing face (like 'your mug' or 'that face of yours'). There is also a specialized Buddhist sense referring to the venerable face of the Buddha. As a noun, 尊容 can appear in both respectful and mocking contexts, so pay attention to the tone of the surrounding words.
