Definition
尊严 (zūnyán) is the formal, inherent dignity of a person or nation — a universal worth. Unlike 面子 (miànzi) 'social face', which depends on external reputation in specific situations, 尊严 is intrinsic. 体面 (tǐmiàn) overlaps but also functions as an adjective meaning 'decent, respectable'.
