Definition
将近 (jiāng jìn) means 'almost, nearly' and is used specifically before numbers, quantities, or times to indicate 'close to' that amount. It is more precise and formal than 差不多 (chà bu duō), which is more general and can also mean 'similar'. Unlike 几乎 (jī hū), which can be used in abstract contexts, 将近 is tied to measurable amounts.
