将就 (jiāng jiu) means 'to make do with' or 'to put up with' something less than ideal, often reluctantly. It is similar to 凑合 (còu he) 'to make do', but 将就 emphasizes reluctant acceptance, while 凑合 focuses on getting by with whatever is available. Unlike 容忍 (róng rěn) 'to tolerate', which implies enduring something unpleasant, 将就 is about accepting a substandard situation or object.
