Definition
对峙 (duì zhì) means a tense standoff or face-off where both sides confront each other, often without immediate action or resolution, as in military or conflict contexts. It emphasizes a static stalemate, unlike 对抗 (active resistance) or 对立 (abstract opposition of views). 交锋 involves active conflict, not just confrontation.
