Definition
害 (hài) is a general word for 'harm; to harm' — as a verb it is less specific and more colloquial than 伤害 (injure), 危害 (endanger), or 损害 (damage), and can mean 'to bother' (e.g. 别害我了). As a noun it means 'harm, evil' but is less concrete than 灾 (disaster) or 祸害 (scourge); it often appears in fixed compounds like 害虫 (pest) or 害处 (downside).
