审计长指审计机构的最高负责人，相当于首席审计官或审计长。在中国通常指国家审计署的署长，也可以指企业内部审计部门的负责人。英文单独译为“auditor”不准确，更贴切的翻译是“auditor general”或“chief auditor”。
