Definition
实录 literally means 'true record' and refers to a formal genre of Chinese historical writing — the year-by-year court chronicles of an emperor's reign, compiled after his death. Outside of historical contexts, it can mean any faithful or verbatim record of events, such as a documentary transcript or a factual account. The word carries a sense of authority and completeness, not just any casual recording.
