Definition
定婚 is a variant form of 订婚 (dìng hūn), meaning 'to be engaged (to be married)'. Like 订婚, it is a separable verb (离合词): when elements such as 了, 过, or measure words appear, the verb splits into 定…婚, as in 定了婚 ('got engaged') or 定过一次婚 ('was engaged once'). The two spellings are interchangeable.
