Definition
婚姻 (hūnyīn) refers to the institution or state of being married — 'marriage' as a concept. In contrast, 婚礼 (hūnlǐ) is the wedding ceremony itself, 夫妻 (fūqī) are the husband and wife as a couple, and 配偶 (pèi'ǒu) is an individual spouse.
