Definition
婆婆 is a noun primarily meaning 'husband's mother' (your mother-in-law from your husband's side). In some dialects, especially in southern China, it can also mean 'maternal grandmother'. More broadly, it can refer to any elderly woman of an older generation, often used as a respectful form of address. Note that the second syllable is in the neutral tone (pó po).
