Definition
娃娃 (wá wa) is an informal, affectionate word for a baby or young child, often used in everyday speech. It differs from 婴儿 (yīng ér), which is the neutral/medical term for an infant, and from 宝贝 (bǎo bèi), which is a term of endearment ('darling') rather than a neutral reference to a child. 娃娃 also means 'doll' (a toy).
