Definition
夸张 (kuāzhāng) means 'exaggerated, overstated' — it describes something that makes things seem bigger, better, or worse than they really are. Unlike 过分/过度 (guòfèn/guòdù 'excessive, going too far'), 夸张 focuses on stretching the truth rather than simply exceeding a limit. In colloquial use it can also mean 'outrageous, ridiculous' when something is so exaggerated it's unbelievable.
