Definition
头角 literally means 'head and horns' but almost always appears in the fixed idioms 初露头角 (chū lù tóu jiǎo) or 崭露头角 (zhǎn lù tóu jiǎo), which mean 'to show one's talent for the first time' or 'to make a mark'. As a noun, it refers to the talent or ability that someone begins to demonstrate. You won't normally use 头角 alone outside of these idioms.
