Definition
失落 (shī luò) has two related meanings: (1) to physically lose or drop something, and (2) to feel a sense of loss, emptiness, or disappointment. The emotional sense is deeper than 失望 (disappointed) — it's a feeling of something missing, not just unmet expectations. Unlike 丢失 (to misplace an object), 失落 can also describe an emotional state.
