Definition
天才 (tiān cái) refers to either an innate talent (e.g., 音乐天才 musical genius) or a person of exceptional ability (他是个天才 he's a genius). It emphasizes a high, often extraordinary level of natural gift, stronger than 才能 (ability) and more personal than 人才 (a talented person in a field). Unlike 才华 (literary/artistic talent), 天才 can apply to any domain and also labels the person themselves.
