Definition
大人 (dàren) is the basic, everyday word for 'adult, grown-up' — the common spoken opposite of 小孩 (child). 成人 (chéngrén) is more formal and can also mean 'to become an adult'; 成年 (chéngnián) is often a verb ('to grow up') or an attributive adjective (e.g., 成年人). For everyday HSK3 use, 大人 is the natural choice.
