Definition
外向 (wàixiàng) describes a personality that is outgoing and enjoys social interaction — the opposite of 内向 (nèixiàng 'introverted'). Unlike 开朗 (kāilǎng), which emphasizes cheerfulness and optimism, 外向 focuses on being sociable and energized by being with others. In economics, 外向 also means 'export-oriented' (e.g. 外向型经济).
