Definition
复出 literally means 'to come out again', but it's most often used for someone — a celebrity, politician, or athlete — who returns to public life after a period of retirement or absence. It carries a sense of 'making a comeback'. You can also use it more literally for objects or events, but the comeback sense is the primary one.
