备用 (bèi yòng) means to set aside something for future use, often used as an attribute (备用钥匙 'spare key'). Unlike 后备 (hòu bèi), which refers to reserve personnel or resources, and 备份 (bèi fèn), which is specifically for data backup, 备用 is a general verb for keeping something in reserve.
