处方 (chǔ fāng) is the formal term for a medical prescription (noun) and the verb 'to prescribe'. It differs from 药方, which refers more commonly to the written list of medicines or an herbal formula. In non-medical contexts, 处方 means a recommended solution, stronger than 建议 'suggestion'.
