Definition
塔吉克 is a proper noun that refers to the Tajik ethnic group, one of China's 56 officially recognized minorities, primarily living in Xinjiang. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, 塔吉克 is also used as a short form for Tajikistan (塔吉克斯坦). In mainland China, the country is always called 塔吉克斯坦.
