Definition
堆积 (duī jī) means 'to pile up, to heap up' and is used for physical objects (goods, leaves) or abstract things (work) accumulating into a heap or mass. It is more concrete and disorderly than 积累 (jī lěi, accumulate knowledge/experience) and 累积 (lěi jī, gradual accumulation over time). Compare 堆 (duī) which is the shorter verb for piling up, often used in compounds.
