Definition
块 (kuài) is the most common measure word for pieces or chunks of solid things (bread, meat, watermelon, etc.). It can also replace 元 (yuán) in everyday speech for money (5块=5 yuan). For soft, shapeless masses (mud, cloud), use 团 (tuán); for cut sections of long things (pipe, wood), use 截 (jié).
