Definition
地震波 (dì zhèn bō) refers specifically to seismic waves generated by an earthquake, including P-waves and S-waves. It is NOT the same as a tidal wave (海啸, hǎi xiào), which is a tsunami caused by underwater displacement. In geophysics and news reports, 地震波 is used to describe the energy propagation through the Earth's crust.
