Definition
地球 (dì qiú) means 'the Earth' as the planet we live on — it is a proper noun referring to the celestial body. In contrast, 大地 (dà dì) means 'the earth/land' in a poetic or grand sense (the ground beneath our feet), and 地 (dì) simply means 'ground' or 'floor' as a surface. 地球 is always used with the generic classifier 个.
