Definition
地上 (dì shang) is a location word meaning 'on the ground' or 'on the floor' — think of things that are physically on a surface below your feet. It can also mean 'above the ground' in a literal spatial sense, though this is less common. Be careful not to confuse it with 上边 or 上面, which are more general. In contrast to 天上 ('the sky/heaven'), 地上 refers to the earthly world.
